DOLL FOR KIDS
BTAC Partners with the A Girls
Bridge-To-Africa Connection is a USA non-profit 501©3 organization. Its primary mission is to change the lives of children and women one person at a time. We are currently working on a project “Dolls for Kids“.
The main objective of this project is to provide dolls to at least 100 children in Ghana, West Africa for the holidays. Many of the children have never and may never own a doll. Dolls can be a companion and a tool to teach the kids so many things including caring for others, empathy and coping skills. We would like to give the kids the opportunity to play with dolls and to bring this learning and fun experience to them.
We are reaching out to you to help us make a difference in a little girl’s life by donating for the purchase of dolls to “BTAC, INC. Sunday Morning Children – Dolls for Kids”. As the project grows, we will expand to other areas of Ghana and Africa. This worthy cause will help to develop our future kids and create memorial experiences for them.
To help make this dream a reality BTAC has partnered with the founder of The African Girls Collection. For each doll sold, a girl in Ghana will get a doll and Bridge-To-Africa Connections will get 10% of the proceeds to continue with the great work we are doing to influence and change lives, one person at a time.
The African Girls Collection
The African Girls Collection is an exceptional product that appreciates the versatility of today’s African girls. The Girls are multicultural, with transcendent stories. The A Girls emphasize play as a right with the understanding that girls need to be girls. The most important thing to a little girl is that her doll is beautiful just like her.
Bakani July Johnson, the founder of The African Girls Collection is a Social Worker and lecturer at the University of Botswana, Botswana-Southern Africa. The A Girls were birthed while she was working with young girls living with HIV in her home country Botswana. She realized there were no dolls that truly reflected the skin tones, facial features or hairstyles of these girls. She made it her mission to create African dolls for African girls. As a Social Entrepreneur her goal has been to change the lives of children by telling their stories through The A Girls dolls. Having never owned a “doll”-vinyl doll herself she understands the need for this beautiful life changing dolls.
